Pillar Design

Finally I have some time to post this file...it's not really complicated but I'll step you through the construction...file is here.

I took the two squares and lay them over the
larger piece to give me a guide for fold lines.
I use the two pieces to stabilize the platform.
When I did my first pillars without the outer wrap
they were prone to warping so this seems to make
it more stable and gives the edge a nicer finish.

You can play with different heights for your pillar
and if you don't want to permanently glue it you
could try using the hair bands to hold your pillar together.

You could add the wide
platform at the base of the
pillar, too. It would, of course,
require another sheet of paper.

Onsie Cards

Well, if you've been following this blog you'll know there has been baby fever, of sorts! It started with the baby onsie favor boxes and now I've done some cards using the same design as the boxes. When cutting I usually select 'Keep Proportions' and select the height for 10.5" File is here

Here are some ideas if you want your card held closed. I've use colored elastic hair bands which may be helpful if you are hold a gift card or gift certificate in place. I used a pink one here...

and a green one running vertically with the stripes.

If you have reversed the paper and have a dark pattern on the inside you could cut a piece of paper(gasp!!) by hand to roughly follow the shape of the card. Also, if the cards were being used as invitations you could also type the info and print it out and shape it the same way.

Another option would be to use some thin magnetic material to hold the front down.

Oooh, baby, baby...

Well I've been busy making new onsie favor boxes and wanted to show some of the designs and some of the cuttlebug embossing folders that add so much textural interest to the paper and just give them that extra touch. I'm also working on a pillar design that some of them are sitting on...I'm still tweaking it so I haven't posted the file yet but I hope to soon. Anyway, here are some different papers and colors. The solids are from Best Occasions Tropical Splash papers and others from DCWV Nana's Kids. If you missed my earlier posts, the onsie svg file is here. I've provided three designs...have fun. Make and give, make and sell, they put a smile on many faces!

This shows the basic fold lines for the boxes.

A Pig's Tale

I'm not quite sure what happened but somehow an out of control piggy has run amuck on the scal forum...(I suspect Miss Piggy herself) but at any rate I started dressing a pig.

Apparently it's amusing to a few of us who have well,
a different sense of humor...

the thread in all it's silliness is here.

It start with a request for a pig...well, actually a gymnastic pig. Choices were offered and one was special swine was chosen but alas she had no outfit. Didn't seem right, so I offered an outfit
and we've been wallowing ever since!!
Thanks for the fun!

Ah yes, it started with a tutu...

and our sassy swine was feeling fine and wanted to to
take a trip so she got a special outfit
for a luau being held in her honor...

While basking in the sun, she picked up some leotards...
not bad for a fine swine swim either.

She couldn't decide which one was her favorite so she
splurged since their was a super swine sale going on...

However, much to her dismay, she realized some thought she was at the luau for other reasons...so she tried to make her position clear.

She decided to leave because their was an
outbreak on the island...and she
feared she might be implicated.

Returning home to her day job, someone suggested that she was not working to her full pig potential...

so once more, she found it necessary explain herself.

She thinks she needs another vacation...
