Thinking of You

I drew this in Inkscape and exported as .svg in SCAL. I like using both parts of the image to maximize materials and create completely different looks. The heart tag done with Stamped cartridge.

Bookmarks with Stamped Cartridge

I used a picture from a magazine for the bookmark but could easily insert a favorite printed saying or a digital picture of a friend or family member.

Gift card envelope

I like the simple envelope (3"x4") to make a gift card sized envelope for either gift cards (or my massage gift certificates). I used a Best Occasions Punch-Out Pack (bought at WalMart) of patterned papers and accents to make the tag and flower in complementary colors. The flower is 2½" with the hole at the top and the tag is 2". I cut a slit in the flower and the tag from the hole up so I could slip it over the band which is just a small ponytail band.

Purse and shoe

Just another fun purse! I used Plantin Schoolbook cartridge on the Cricut to make the purse and the flower petals.
The great little shoe is about 2½" high. The shoe is from a handcut template by an amazing artist...here is his site. Click on tutorials and videos and it will take you the page with the shoe template and a video on how to construct it.

Designs using Inkscape and SCAL

Here are some bookmarks made using features of Inkscape and importing files into SCAL (Sure Cuts A Lot)

All of these files are available at the link in my sidebar "My SCAL .svg files."

One of the main advantages of SCAl is the ability to use true type fonts like the one I selected for "Cattitude." In SCAL you have options for tweaking the design with modes option:

Normal

Shadow

Blackout

Shadow Blackout

Mixed

However, with this font, I can't change it too much...I thicken it in the Shadow mode at "1." When I try higher numbers, it doesn't seem to recognize it...it says "Cutting is complete" but won't do anything...so I found keeping the number low allows me to cut it out.

I used Inkscape to weld it to a path so it would have a slight curve to the design. When using fonts in Inkscape you must select your copy and go to the Path drop-down menu and select object to path to convert the copy from text to objects so SCAL can read it. If you need help, there are some great tutorials at the Free Template link on my sidebar.

Cricut Bookmarks

Here are some of my recent bookmarks...I cut the letter out in the black card stock and select some pretty patterned design to go behind the letters and then cut the background in green.

Purses with Plantin Schoolbook cartridge...

Posted here are some of the design I'm doing using my Plantin Schoolbook Cricut cartridge...I love, love, love the adorable little purses I can make!

These were done with some with beautiful rose gift wrap that I spray glued to card stock...on some I've added some additional flowers and leaves and on a few I stamped a design on the inside of the purse for an additional design touch.

Adding more purses...they are a perfect touch for giving a special gift...earrings, a necklace or a gift card.
